This is a vintage calendar print of a St. Bernard dog, or possibly a Newfoundland, swimming to shore and holding a rope. He is in stormy water and a ship is in the distance. If you look closely, a man on the ship is holding the other end of the rope. It is signed at the lower right by the artist Robert Winter. It is referred to appropriately as the Life Line.
The print is in a deep carved and layered wood frame. It has a wide gold layer near the glass, a cardboard backing, with a wire for hanging.
Size: The frame measures approximately 14" tall and 12" wide. The opening in the back measures approximately 8" by 10". It is 1 1/2" deep.
